Lust, Caution at Venice August 31, 2007

Lust, Caution debuted at Venice Film Festival last night. Loveliness ensued. That’s Michelle Yeoh up there, posing with the fans. The movie is rated NC-17. Probably because of all that lust. Not enough caution. Shock! We’re not supposed to be NC-17! 😉

Two Asian-themed movies out this weekend: Balls of Fury and War. Both look super lame, oh well.

Check out the trailer for War:

Maggie Q, who’s in Balls of Fury, and Devon Aoki, who has a part in War, both stopped by Late Night with Conan O’Brien to chat about their new movies. JustJared has the clips!

Ichiro says weird shit

Ichiri Suzuki, a ballplayer for the Seattle Mariners, says weird shit. A few highlights:

“It’s not surprising. At the same time, it’s not that usual. It’s somewhere between usual and surprising.”

“I hope he arouses the fire that’s dormant in the innermost recesses of my soul. I plan to face him with the zeal of a challenger.”

“Tiger is a great golfer, but … when you say athlete, I think of Carl Lewis. When you talk about [golfers or race-car drivers], I don’t want to see them run. It’s the same if you were to meet a beautiful girl and go bowling. If she’s an ugly bowler, you are going to be disappointed.”

Thanks, Jen, for the tip!

About Takashi Murakami August 30, 2007

Takashi Murakami‘s work has already been featured for mass market domination on Louis Vuitton bags, and you’ll be seeing it everywhere with the release of Kanye West’s new Graduation album. Murakami did the artwork for the album cover, as well as the single “Stronger.”

Murakami works in a style called Superflat, which is superflat because it’s very cartoon-like — no dimensions, just flat color. Anyway, he’s super cool. Even if you’ve never heard of him before, you’ve definitely seen his stuff. An upcoming exhibition of Murakami’s work will be at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles start this October. It’ll even feature a Louis Vuitton boutique right in the middle of the exhibit!

Yi Jianlin, who, for those who don’t know, is a super tall Chinese basketball player, just signed to play in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks. Dude is 19! Anyway, he was hedging on the deal because he didn’t like Milwaukee (not enough Asians). Guess he’ll have to deal with it now!

She’s kind of reminding me of the old ladies who wear socks with their slippers. Think it’ll look cooler on TV? Nah….

It’s Lucy Liu, silly! Cashmere Mafia is the name of the game. Why she’s kissing that dude from that one movie from way back is beyond me.
